The Accidental Framework
We started with React.
Then we added a design system. A few shared libraries. Some custom hooks. A handful of wrappers. A code generator. Several internal conventions. More abstractions. More tooling.
A few years later, new developers no longer learn React first. They learn our framework.
In this talk, I'll explore how successful frontend projects gradually evolve into complex ecosystems of internal tools, libraries, and conventions. Drawing from real-world experience with large React and TypeScript codebases, I'll show why these frameworks emerge naturally, how they impact delivery and onboarding, and what teams can do to prevent their architecture from becoming a black box nobody fully understands.
About Łukasz Gadzina
I’m a Delivery Architect and Lead Frontend Developer with over 14 years of experience building and delivering software solutions across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, e-commerce, HR, tourism, and waste management. My primary expertise lies in React and TypeScript, with a strong focus on designing scalable, maintainable web applications and modern frontend architectures.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with both small and large teams, combining hands-on engineering with architectural leadership. Today, I focus mainly on software architecture, helping organizations make sound technical decisions and build products that can evolve with business needs. I’m also actively involved in mentoring developers, supporting their growth in both technical and architectural skills.
I’m particularly interested in application architecture, engineering best practices, developer experience, and creating software that remains reliable and easy to maintain as it scales.
